Nature of Work: The day camp counselor acts as the educational programmer’s aid for the summer day camp. The main responsibility is to assist the day camp director with the activities and management of the children. The helper should plan to assist in set-up and take down of the activity stations. May work independently with small groups of children. May exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Required Qualifications: Minimum of 18 years of age. Knowledge of behavior management and instructional methods. Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and implement a day camp program CPR/AED and First Aid certification required by start of employment. Must have a valid Driver’s License.
Desirable Qualifications: Experience working with children in a recreational or educational setting.
Work Schedule: Five days per week, 8 hours per day (Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). May be some flexibility.
