JOB SUMMARY: The position will be responsible for the hiring of faculty and the operation of the School. The Dean will provide the academic and administrative leadership required to achieve high standards of excellence in teaching, student engagement, and service, in addition to faculty and student development within the college and the community. The Dean will have the opportunity to play a major role in the formulation and implementation of programs essential to the mission of the institution; coordinate post-secondary curriculum offerings with secondary institutions; and provide School-level leadership in strategic planning, oversight, budgeting, and policy direction. This individual articulates a vision, translated into goals, for the School's short and long range planning, in line with the college's mission, vision, values, core themes, and strategic plan; provides vision for all programs in the School. Collaborates with faculty and staff on initiatives consistent with the policies and procedures of the School. Advocates for programs within the School of Health Sciences. Establishes a cohesive team environment. Makes recommendations for the selection of faculty, professional, and support service staff. Oversees the scheduling of classes. Works with faculty and staff issues to further enhance a positive learning environment. Responds appropriately to student concerns. Continuously analyzes and evaluates performance of faculty and staff and makes recommendations for improvement. Establishes long and short-range strategic plans. Promotes, facilitates, and coordinates communication and activities among the instruction and service areas of the College and within the community. Explores and develops economic opportunities for disciplines and programs; oversees and coordinates grants;and builds community partnerships. Oversees departmental faculty, student, and administrative records ensuring compliance with FERPA regulations. Prepares reports as needed by the College, state of Iowa, federal government, or other entities as needed. Keeps abreast of professional developments via professional meetings and review of literature. Promotes academic areas and the College via publications, presentations, and discussions with various community entities. Supervises and manages personnel within EEOC guidelines and collective bargaining contracts. Serves on College committees and task forces. Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in a healthcare discipline, education, administration, or closely related field. Minimum of four years of successful work experience in a healthcare field. At least two years teaching experience and/or administrative experience at the postsecondary level. Experience working with clinical site partners, regulators and accreditation agencies. Working knowledge of community college philosophy, program accessibility, and alternative and advanced technological educational delivery systems. Demonstrated ability in instructional leadership experience. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of the team of Academic Deans. Proven ability in program development, planning, accreditation, and curricular and budget management. Experience working with diverse populations. Successful record of building and maintaining external partnerships. Visionary qualities of a forward-thinking leader in an evolving environment. Demonstrated effective oral, written, and digital communication skills. Evidence of effective leadership skills.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS:Full-time position opening with a comprehensive benefits program including health, dental, life, and LTD insurance; a Section 125 plan for medical and dependent care expense; holiday, personal, sick, and vacation leave; and a choice of retirement programs--IPERS (defined benefit) or TIAA-CREF (defined contribution). Salary will be commensurate with the applicant's education and experience.
