Deputies are responsible for performing regulatory and law enforcement work to protect the lives and property of County citizens.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Duties include locating and arresting persons wanted in Howard County, extraditing wanted persons to Howard County; responding to and investigating domestic violence incidents to include serving emergency evaluations and domestic violence petitions and orders; maintaining custody and transportation of prisoners; maintaining peace and security of the courts; serving civil process; appearing in court to testify; carrying out court orders by collecting judgments or taking possession of property; conducting Sheriff's sales; executing warrants of restitution by evicting tenants from their property; and handle civil disturbances and emergencies.
LATERAL SALARY: $19.79 - $30.
Shift work, which includes weekends and holidays, is required. In addition, deputies may be required to remain in court for the duration of the daily proceedings resulting in irregular duty hours. Deputies on occasion may be required to travel to other states and stay overnight in extradition cases. Deputies are fully constituted peace officers and are responsible for taking law enforcement action.
High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of experience.
