Goodrich Aerostructures is currently seeking a Design Engineer IV to work in our R&D group, experienced in the use of computer aided design tools, and with an eagerness to learn new technologies. Joining our diverse and highly accomplished engineering team, you'll work alongside some of the most exceptional professionals in the industry as you engage in complex, cutting-edge projects throughout their life cycle. Products manufactured are high temperature exhaust structures and engine cases that are manufactured utilizing SPF and metal bonding of honeycomb structures.
You will invest your design optimization expertise as you engage in complex, cutting-edge projects through their full lifecycle. You will be part of a multi-functional team to prepare design trade studies and evaluate competing designs.
Perform detailed design work, assembly layout, systems engineering, configuration control, creating drawings and model based definition using CATIA V5 within Enovia, release engineering, writing manuals, technical support and other related responsibilities, including but not limited to:
o Formulating designs for component parts and assemblies for application for aerospace products.
o Working conformity to pre-establish design parameters.
o Release data models through PDM system.
o Work with others in the structural and system design of large nacelle components and prototypes.
o Will support preparation of new business proposals.
o Prepare 3D models and direct the preparation of 2D engineering drawings to define aircraft nacelle structures for static and flight test demonstration.
o Presentation of design concepts to management and customers.
o Will participate in and lead lean events.
o Resolve design problems of complex scope.
o Conduct analyses to develop options or recommendations for company products.
o May act as a small team lead in support of component or sub-component design.
o Serve as an expert resource for other Engineers.
Knowledge/experience of structural design.
o Extensive knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerencing (GD&T) and tolerance stack ups.
o Knowledge of basic understanding of load paths.
o Knowledge of metallic: sheet and stringer and machining, with ability to create 3d solid models.
o Knowledge of metallic formed and honeycomb bonded materials and systems highly preferred.
o Ability to work well in a team environment.
o Ability to read and convert models to/from different formats.
o Advanced Microsoft Office skills: PowerPoint, Excel, Word.
o Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate technical issues effectively to team, management and customers.
Previous experience in an R&D environment.
o Experience with design of metal bonded or high temperature honeycomb bonded Titanium structures

BS in Engineering or equivalent relevant degree with 5+ years, or Master's degree and 3+ years of related experience in aerospace structural design, composite design experience, CATIA V5 (minimum 2000 hours) or Solidworks experience, and experience and ability to work within a multifunctional team environment.
