The School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) is looking for a Diagnostic Radiologic Technician - Objective. Positions are located in the Department of Family Medicine. The register created by this vacancy will be used to fill other DRT-Obj. vacancies that become available in SMPH for the next six months.

SALARY : Starting salary is $20.624 per hour, plus excellent benefits . Schedule/range 06-16. A 6 month probationary period is required.

JOB DUTIES : Independently perform complex diagnostic radiology procedures in the radiology department of the Verona Family Medical Clinic. Perform all diagnostic radiology examinations for the clinic. It will manage and develop radiographic services, provide radiologic analysis and instruction, and maintain x-ray equipment and supplies. Also, perform clinical and medical assistant duties, such as the taking of vital signs and patient history and basic laboratory testing and related tasks. Provide radiologic analysis and instruction including participating in resident and student education. Duties are performed under general supervision and the position reports to the Clinic Manager.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED : Knowledge of, and ability to perform, current methods and techniques involved in diagnostic radiology; knowledge and understanding of patient care and proper handling procedures; ability to operate complex radiographic equipment; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written, and obtain highly confidential medical information in a manner that requires discretion and judgment in interpretation and application of established policies and procedures; well-developed assessment skills and ability to make observations of general physical condition and needs of patients; ability to set priorities and to perform multiple tasks in a complex, fast-paced and often stressful environment, ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in identifying problems and seeking and implementing solutions; knowledge of general patient care and treatment procedures, equipment, clinic operation rules and regulations, and ethics pertinent to a clinic facility ; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, providers, and staff.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or eligible to register. One year of experience (with-in last 5 years) as a radiological technician in an ambulatory care setting. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis.
