Minimum Travel Percentage
Responsible for identifying, assessing, directing and facilitating a holistic, effective, and cost-conscious approach to current and emerging environmental, health, safety and transportation concerns that impact enterprise success and long-term liability.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
Oversees development of global environmental, occupational safety, employee health, industrial hygiene, transportation and related policies that guide the company's diversified interests.
Provides direction and counsel to ensure the company is proactively working toward consistent execution of environmental, health, safety and transportation compliance programs and incident reduction strategies.
Directs the development of essential resources that form the framework of the environmental, health, safety and transportation management system.
Cultivates strategic inter-departmental and inter-business partnerships to facilitate the collaborative development and implementation of environmental, health, safety and transportation processes and workflows.
Directs the development of accident prevention and loss control systems for the corporate enterprise including infectious disease response protocols.
Advises senior leadership in EHS&T matters related to financial planning, asset acquisition and allocation, and impact of proposed regulations.
Defines and oversees EHS&T due diligence and integration activities that support strategic business growth.
Leads a team of EHS professionals and champions professional development, placement and retention to support global operations.
Nature and Scope
Problems are typically defined by higher level leadership. Problems are difficult. Solutions require analysis and investigation.
Decides how to achieve planned results within an organization's plans, policies and guidelines. May set or change plans/goals within respective department or area.
May manage department via multiple layers of managers OR directly supervise a staff of professionals IC's at the senior or technical advisor level.
Most of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8 - 20 pounds).
Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such things as dust, fumes or odors.
Typically requires overnight travel 20% to 50% of the time.
Must be eighteen years of age
Must pass the Drug Test
Must pass the Background Check
Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable
Education and Experience
Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline. Generally 9+ years experience in related field including several years in a management/supervisory capacity.
• 10+ years experience with a minimum of 3 years experience with EHS&T issues in a lead capacity.
• Master’s degree in engineering, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, and/or public health, PE registration.
• Advanced experience in international environmental, health, safety and transportation policy, laws, and regulations, with the demonstrated ability to analyze and evaluate complex regulations
• Six Sigma, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, OSHA VPP, and mergers and acquisitions experience.
• LEAN experience
• Up to 50% travel
• Strong Influential skills
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Experience with behavioral based safety principal
