This position is responsible for overseeing and managing staff and vendors supporting WellPoint’s Medicare Advantage, Part D and Medicare Supplement (Medicare Programs) regulatory integration/implementation, compliance training, policies & procedures, and privacy compliance activities. Primary duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Regulatory Integration/Implementation
o Tracking, gathering and drafting comment letters on draft statutes, regulations and guidance impacting WellPoint’s Medicare Programs.

o Tracking timely implementation of final statutes, regulations and guidance impacting WellPoint’s Medicare Programs.

  • Training
o Tracking and ensuring appropriate compliance training is provided to Medicare Program staff, leadership, the Board, and Medicare Vendors/FDRs.

o Ensuring training is effective and timely.

  • Policies & Procedures (P&Ps)
o Tracking and reviewing P&Ps to ensure they are reviewed at least annually and updated as guidance/regulations change or opportunities for improvement are identified.

o Standardize P&Ps to ensure they are clear, compliant, comprehensive and accessible to all associates and as appropriate vendors/FDRs supporting Medicare Programs.

o Ensure that appropriate training occur when P&Ps are updated.

  • Privacy
o Work with Medicare Programs business and operations areas to develop department specific privacy protection practices.

o Work with Medicare Programs business and operations areas to track and develop action plans to further improve privacy practices and eliminate/reduce any privacy breaches or issues.

This position requires a BA/BS in a related field, 5 to 10 years of leadership experience in legal, audit, compliance, training, or related area; experience with Medicare Part C and D, or other Medicare-related business working directly with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Willing to consider candidates who can demonstrate they have a combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent and transferrable skill set to the preceding. JD, MBA, MPH, etc. preferred. Strong leadership, results oriented and positive attitude required.

Job Qualifications
