Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the University of Hawaii (UH) Cancer Center, located in Honolulu, Hawaii. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.

MONTHLY SALARY RANGE: $4,569 - $11,652/Mon.

DUTIES: Provides support throughout the grant writing process including identifying funding opportunities. Plans, prepares, writes, revises and edits highly competitive, technical and complex research grant proposals/applications. Coordinates and compiles scientific and/or technical information and creates special reports, studies, summaries and analyses. Interprets and follows sponsor regulations, requirements, guidelines and instructions. Manages timelines for investigators and administrators in the preparation and submission of grant proposals to funding agencies. Manages post award functions including maintenance of full-time equivalency (FTE) schedules, fiscal management of sub-awards, and assistance to principal investigators (PIs) on budget and effort reporting. Provides support for administration initiatives relating to research or program development opportunities as required.

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in public health, health care administration, or in a science-related field. EXPERIENCE: At least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience with documented successful grant writing for NCI, DoD, or ACS. Research laboratory and/or health care facility experience in the areas of cancer, molecular biology, tumor immunology, viral oncology and/or cancer epidemiology and biostatistics. At least three (3) years of leadership/management experience. ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS: Familiar with and knowledgeable about literature searching, statistics and interpretation of data. Proven ability to write technical documents, specifically manuscripts, abstracts and grant proposals. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to plan and organize assigned activities and meet established deadlines, skills in software applications such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and EndNote. Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to pass a post offer State and National criminal background check.

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS: PhD from an accredited college or university in public health, health care administration, or in a science-related field. Knowledge of cancer research. Knowledge of federal and private funding agencies and their programs.
