Under the direction of the AVP- Quality , Risk and Medical Staff, the Director of Medical Staff Services is responsible for the documentation of performance of medical staff activities as required by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, JCAHO Standards and other accreditation standards applicable to this facility. Coordinates and maintains effective office procedures and efficient work flows, and acts as liaison between the medical staff, nursing and ancillary staff and Administration with in the parameters established by Administration, the Medical Staff Leadership and the Board of Trustees. Is responsible for establishing, maintaining, reviewing, and revising, as needed, operational standards for accomplishing objectives of the Medical Staff Services Department.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

:

A. Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent experience Preferred.

B. 3 years experience as a medical staff services professional within a hospital setting preferred; understands the various components of the U.S. health care delivery system.

C. Computer skills, typing expertise, communication skills, both orally and in writing, and must work well as a member of a team.

D. Working knowledge of medical staff credentialing and organizational structures as well as current knowledge base of all related regulatory agency requirements preferred.

E. Certification as a Certified Provider Medical Services Management (CPMSM) and Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred.

F. Strong interpersonal and management skills, as well as the essential skills of the ability to provide positive or negative feedback to employees.

G. Knowledge of correct office procedures including filing skills and knowledge of medical terminology

H. Independent problem solving and decision making abilities by using personal judgment in prioritizing work, delegating tasks, managing projects, and setting deadlines while handling daily

interruptions and adapting to change in priorities, re-establishing deadlines to get the work completed.
