Distinguished Professor of Free Enterprise and Entrepreneurship. The Allan P. Kirby Center is located on the campus of Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, PA.The Allan P. Kirby Center was founded in 1993 and has grown based on the mission of promoting free enterprise through entrepreneurship education.
It contributed the entrepreneurship major, minor, and MBA concentration to the Sidhu School of Business and Leadership and supports cross-campus and cross-discipline programs. Engaging the campus and regional community with outreach programs, it offers a biennial lecture series featuring leading proponents of free enterprise and entrepreneurs, an annual high school business plan competition, and supports an award winning Enactus (formerly SIFE) Team.The Allan P. Kirby Center for Free Enterprise and Entrepreneurship is dedicated to the teaching of the principles of free enterprise and entrepreneurship. Although the Center is affiliated with the School of Business and Leadership at Wilkes University, it is an independent center that serves the entire University, as well as regional and state programs.The Allan P.
Kirby Center's goals are: 1.To encourage and enable students to understand the nature of free enterprise, value creation, and entrepreneurship through curricular and experience-based activities. 2. To develop, implement, and support programs that will enhance the entrepreneurial climate of Wilkes University and northeastern Pennsylvania. 3.
To foster dialog on the imperative of pursuing the constitutional goals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness through the free enterprise system and entrepreneurship.Other programs and activities offered by the Center include special seminars and lectures, support for student business owners, a regional high school business concept competition, and sponsorship of the Enactus team. We are seeking an entrepreneurial leader who will bring passion and vision to the ongoing development of curricula, programs and activities promoting the free enterprise system and the integration of entrepreneurship within the University and broader community.Are YOU that "recovering entrepreneur" who can bring both your academic business experiences to this exciting leadership role? The successful candidate will report directly to the President of Wilkes University. RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach two courses per semester at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.Develop curricula or curricular modules in free enterprise and entrepreneurship minor and major at both the undergraduate and MBA levels.Supports the Enactus team.Supervise independent study projects including youth entrepreneurship programs, IPO process, management audit for family business and evaluation of commercial opportunities for proprietary, broadly applicable technology.Plan, organize and deliver the biannual Allan P Kirby Center Lecture Series in free enterprise and Entrepreneurship.Plan, organize and deliver the annual school-to-work Student (high school) business concept competition.Demonstrate visible leadership for the Center both regionally and nationallyOngoing development and implementation of programs to enhance the entrepreneurial climate in northeastern Pennsylvania.Developing and implementing programs to enhance the entrepreneurial climate in northeastern PennsylvaniaQUALIFICATIONS: Position requires an individual with a MBA as a minimum academic qualification.An individual with a relevant PhD, active in the dissertation process of a PhD or an individual with a terminal degree (JD, MD) is highly preferred.
Requires an individual who has had significant experience as an entrepreneur and has the passion to assist others in the processes to achieve their goals.Requires an individual who has demonstrated dynamic and strong university teaching experience.Requires an individual who is goal driven, focused and possesses the requisite high energy level needed to motivate both the students and faculty around you!The individual will be required to show successful program development experience at the university and community level.Wilkes University is an independent, comprehensive university dedicated to academic excellence in the liberal arts, sciences, and selected professional programs.
