Director, Marketing & Communications ‐ Sharp Metropolitan Medical Campus (SMMC)
This position is responsible for developing strategies and initiatives to drive growth in the utilization of profitable service lines at the entities on the Sharp Metropolitan Medical Campus (SMMC). Those entities include Sharp Memorial Hospital, Sharp Memorial Outpatient Pavilion, Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women and Newborns, Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital and the Sharp McDonald Center. This role will work closely with the CEOs of the hospitals and their management teams.
Formulate market based strategies for growth that leverage input from hospital management teams and Sharp Healthcare system resources:
- Understand key consumer needs and drivers
- Address all key targets and influencers including consumers, patients, physicians and payers.
- Build annual marketing plans based on the key strategies
Drive successful execution and measurement of marketing plans which could include:
- Print, broadcast and electronic advertising, videos, etc.
- Direct mail/CRM initiatives
- Digital marketing
- Special events, community education seminars and other outreach activities
- Media relations and PR
- Other technologies or vehicles
Lead the development of innovative new approaches to grow the business. Provide leadership and guidance to all internal and external communications efforts regarding the Sharp Metropolitan Medical Campus (SMMC). Lead and develop the marketing team (4 direct reports) at the Sharp Metropolitan Medical Campus (SMMC). Act as a key liaison between the Sharp Metropolitan Medical Campus (SMMC) and the System Marketing Resources. Assure that processes function well and that there is excellent cooperation. Serve as a member of the system Marketing Leadership Team (MLT) and provide input on all major marketing initiatives across the system
- Minimum of eight (8) years in marketing communications within an advertising agency and/or large regional organizations encompassing multiple marketing communications disciplines, including branding, advertising, digital and strategic marketing.
- Experience in a healthcare provider organization is a strong preference.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), etc.
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree with a focus in advertising or marketing, or equivalent work experience required.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
In-depth knowledge and working history of planning and implementing marketing campaigns and growth initiatives. Understanding of the use of research and other evaluation tools in developing strategy and measuring effectiveness. Ability to successfully manage competing priorities in a rapidly changing business and corporate environment. Strong analytical skills. Highly organized with strong project management and communication skills. Ability to pay attention to details and maintain a high level of accuracy while adhering to deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills dealing with all levels of employees and strong adherence to Sharp’s Behavior Standards. Excellent customer-service skills and a positive “can-do” attitude.
Sits frequently at desk using computer terminal. Ability to speak/hear clearly in person and on telephone. Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds. Ability to appropriately handle stress associated with multifaceted responsibilities.
