Responsibilities
Responsible for the operational support of all Access Network, Voice and user internet DMZ’s for all NBC Universal West Coast Business units and the cabling infrastructure for the Universal campus.

The Director of West Coast Unified Communication’s Services provides effective network and internet solutions with proactive support to address and resolve business problems. This position has a global reach in support of the Wide Area Network and Internet services with a regional focus on Local Area Network and Infrastructure facilities for the West Coast. This position provides direction and leadership for the West Coast Unified Communication’s Services team. He/She will work closely with the Build and Governance teams to follow standards and processes and implement network technologies critical to the success of a global entertainment company.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Work closely with the Core Network team and the Network Operations team on established sound handoffs and detailed documentation standards before new builds are accepted into the production environment.
  • Ensures the Unified Communication’s Services processes that span the infrastructure organization to reduce cycle time & improve efficiency.
  • Proactively work towards 100% standardization of telemetry; participate in the creation of SOP for how team will respond to alerts.
  • Establish and maintain operational metrics that align to customer experience.
  • Participates in the budget forecast for Unified Communication’s Technology and ensure adherence to budget goals through cost controls
  • Create and distribute metric reports that include tracking, trending and analyses for service delivery, project status and system performance
  • Ensures that effective technical support is available to respond to any infrastructure issue or request.
  • Drive first time right network and system enhancements.
  • Implement agreed upon simplification efforts through existing infrastructure environments.
  • Partner, identify and leverage best practices from across NBC Universal; create opportunities for synergy between people and groups.
  • Work closely with multiple vendors to help drive service level agreements down and speed up delivery.
  • Create/foster a long-term relationship with both internal and external partners.
  • Participates in the evaluation and selection of all major infrastructure products, services and partners.
  • Create opportunities for cross-organizational synergies; remove organizational and artificial barriers to teamwork and cooperation.
  • Create a culture that fosters learning and development.
  • Support and develop a pipeline of the technical expertise that will be required to meet long-term business goals.
  • Play a proactive role in applying “Best in Class” approaches/practices to our operational readiness.

    Qualifications/Requirements
  • B.S. degree in Information Technology, Business Administration or other technical discipline.
  • 8+ years experience in the successful design, planning, implementation and operation of wide-area and local-area network, including trouble-shooting and platform analysis across the broadcast and IT technology stack.
  • Strong understanding and experience with Cisco Unified Communications systems.
  • Willingness to travel and work overtime, and on weekends with short notice.
  • Available 24/7/365 to drive operational activities when necessary.
  • Ability to manage staff and projects in multiple locations.
