Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):

Reporting to the Director of Tax Policy & Communications or other assigned supervisor, manages the day-to-day operations of the Taxpayer Referral and Assistance Center. Oversees the operations of the Center including the review and assignment of work, the supervision and training of staff, and the coordination of workflow with other units. Determines need for, conducts studies concerning, and carries out work improvements regarding the dissemination of tax information, including motor vehicle and boat excise, real estate, exemptions, and property ownership. Provides information to co-workers, other units, other departments and agencies, and the public. Compiles information, maintains records, and prepares correspondence, reports and other documents. Represents the Center and the Department. Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

At least five (5) year's professional experience in management analysis and customer service or related field, two years in a supervisory capacity, are required. Appropriate educational substitutions such as a college degree which is preferred may be accepted for two years of this experience, but not for supervisory experience. Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job. Demonstrated ability to train and motivate staff preferred. Demonstrated teamwork, interpersonal and project management skills preferred. Ability to make presentations and to communicate effectively with internal and external constituencies preferred. Ability to prepare management documents, and professional communications and analyses, including data and statistical information, preferred. Thorough knowledge of assessing operations and departmental standards and goals preferred. Thorough knowledge of laws and procedures pertaining to real estate taxation, property ownership, personal exemptions, motor vehicle and boat excise, etc., preferred.
