Reporting to the Head of Marketing - U.S. Genetic Diseases, this position will be responsible for developing/aligning the strategic marketing plan for the identification, diagnosis and optimal treatment of people living with Gaucher and MPS I diseases and receiving Cerezyme or Aldurazyme in the U.S. The person will develop the U.S. brand strategy and tactics for Cerezyme/Aldurazyme and potential future drugs currently in clinical trials; provide guidance and direction on the execution of marketing efforts in the U.S. market. The individual will lead key aspects of brand management and participate in multi-functional product management, Sales, Operations, HCP's education, Patients' education, Care Coordination, Customer operations and Global Marketing teams to achieve the short and long-term commercial objectives of the Gaucher and MPS I programs.
Create and communicate a competitive integrated US marketing plan for Cerezyme and Aldurazyme to enhance patients' diagnoses and access to treatment. Work with the U.S. field and market research teams to develop and refine brand strategy/tactics that will maintain the market leader position of Cerezyme.
Develop and effectively communicate core U.S. branding, marketing messages and competitive product positioning statements for Cerezyme and Aldurazyme.
Coordinate the activities and resource planning of the Managed Markets, Marketing Research, Patient Advocacy, Competitive Intelligence, Health Economics, Sales Training, e-Business and Medical Programs groups to align the U.S. strategy and execution of the marketing plan; all to be planned and executed in a patient centric manner.
Build strong relationships with KOLs, patient advocacy groups, and key customers to identify customer needs and drive commercial development.
Demonstrate a comprehensive and proficient understanding of Gaucher and MPS I diseases, Cerezyme/ Aldurazyme current market dynamics and play a key role in facilitating learning.
Have a thorough understanding of the U.S. healthcare environment and reimbursement issues related to orphan drugs.
Decide on the optimal promotion, e-business and other vehicles to communicate brand and disease messages within organizational, regulatory and ethical boundaries.
Lead or participate in cross-functional and cross-brand teams with Medical, Clinical, Regulatory and Global Marketing Team to drive business decisions and projects.
Interact with Genzyme senior management on matters related to marketing strategy and strategic business development, including the introduction of new therapeutic products.
Provide input into the development of medical education, post-marketing studies, registry, KOL and publication strategy.
Respond and support the needs of internal and external customers. Consult proactively with Regional U.S. markets to ensure proper pull-through of messaging and marketing campaigns and sharing best practices.
Analyze qualitative and quantitative market data to generate a deeper understanding of the customer's needs, brand and disease issues and market potential including identifying target and emerging audiences based on life-cycle, gaps in current data and to refine strategies. Develop and initiate market research to support strategic decision making.
Analyze data, metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to advise the field team, and cross functional leadership of progress or gaps to targets and goals.
Oversee product demand forecasts to Manufacturing Operations and provide business input to the operations plan regarding Fill-Finish, Packaging, and Materials Management.
Manage brand marketing budget, individual project budgets and develop quarterly, annual and long-range sales and expense forecasts. Advise on annual planning, priority setting and budget allocation. Monitors Cerezyme and Aldurazyme business results against stated objectives and initiates corrective actions.
Manage, coordinate and serve as a role model and mentor to the product U.S. marketing team and delegate/allocate work as required. Works independently as a leader and exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment with agreed objectives and scope.
Bachelor's degree in life sciences, marketing or business
A minimum of 10+ years sales and marketing combined experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical or medical device industries; including 5+ years product management experience, preferably in U.S.
Experienced manager of professionals and function teams in an international, competitive and complex matrix environment.
Ability to travel 20% within the U.S., including some weekends.
Excellent people and communication skills, ability to operate in across-cultural and complex matrix environment, and ability to build sustainable social relationships within the organization and with customers
