The Director of Academic Advising provides leadership and administration for undergraduate academic advising activities at the Milton campus. A faculty member in the First Year Studies Program, the Director leads and administers all aspects of advising including program development, implementation, evaluation, and modification of all services for approximately 1900 students and 120 faculty advisors. Includes supervision of Manager of Advising Services; budgeting for department; assigning and reviewing faculty advising loads; coordinating advising program at Summer and Winter Orientation sessions; training new faculty advisors.
Position also involves significant collaboration with Registrar and Dean’s Office on course selection process, integration with student support services, and evaluation of advising outcomes. Each semester the Director teaches one course in the First Year program and is released from three courses. Successful candidates will have experience in an academic advising environment, including: advising students; training of advisors; program administration and assessment; understanding of student development issues as they relate to advising, transitions and the college experience.
Excellent teaching and communication skills are also essential. Terminal degree is required.
Anticipated rank at the Assistant/Associate Professor level, depending on experience.
