The person holding this full-time position is responsible for coordinating the church Christian Education programs for children from infants through grade 5 and directing the Pre-Kindergarten Program.
RESPONSIBILITIES —includes but not limited to the following:
Be responsible for supervising all Sunday morning Christian Education activities for young children. Recruit and train Sunday School teachers and volunteers; order Sunday School curriculum and supplies; assist in the preparation of the Christian Education budget.
Work with the Christian Education Committee to plan and run the annual Vacation Bible School
Establish and administer the Pre-Kindergarten Program calendar and budget with the assistance of the Pre-Kindergarten Advisory Board; maintain and order materials and equipment for the Pre-Kindergarten Program
Supervise the hiring, training and scheduling of all Pre-Kindergarten Program staff; oversee the Pre-Kindergarten staff payroll; administer background checks on teachers, helpers and volunteers for all church programs
Work with the appropriate church committees to conduct annual evaluations of Christian Education and Pre-Kindergarten staff
Work with church staff to expand the market of the church Christian Education and Pre-Kindergarten programs and to keep the church community and Pre-Kindergarten parents informed
Attend weekly church staff meetings
Attend monthly Christian Education Committee and scheduled Pre-Kindergarten Advisory Board meetings
Attend monthly Session meetings and submit a written report each month
Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education or related field. A minimum of three to five years of early childhood teaching and supervisory experience required. The Childrens Ministry/Pre-Kindergarten Program Director should hold or be eligible to obtain the National Administration Credential (NAC) from the National Child Care Association.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds from floor to shoulder height
Must be able to carry 50 pounds up to 200 feet
Must be able to stoop, squat, kneel and sit on the floor on a frequent basis
Must be able to physically navigate stairs in/outdoors
Must have a valid drivers license and valid automobile insurance
Must have First Aid and CPR certification
Must pass a NCIC background check
Must maintain regular office hours
Must be available to communicate with parents and staff in the evening and be available to work some evenings
