IJM Bangalore is seeking a dynamic leader with excellent networking and communication skills who will work to connect the church of India to God’s heart for the oppressed. Through initiating and developing relationships with local church leaders, seminaries, and NGO partners, this individual will work to raise awareness among churches about IJM’s work and mission and mobilize church members and their communities to intervene on behalf of victims of human trafficking and forced labor.
This position is based in Bangalore, Karnataka, requires periodic travel throughout India, and reports directly to the Field Office Director.
Champion Church & Partner Development
Building relationships with existing church and NGO partners in Bangalore, as well as targeting new groups to engage in the work of IJM;
Equipping church and seminary leaders to lead their constituents in the Biblical fight against injustice – especially forced labor slavery;
Arranging and facilitating speaking engagements with churches, seminaries, and other strategic forums in order to share about the work of IJM; and
Be available for regional travel for speaking engagements or partnership opportunities.
Curriculum & Resource Development
Adapting existing resources and curriculums to be culturally specific to the Indian Church, as well as creating new resources when necessary;
Developing strategic tools and volunteer opportunities to engage church leaders and community members in ways to partner with IJM; and
Creating dynamic presentations for church trainings and speaking engagements.
Creative Leadership and Program Development
Leading a small team of like-minded individuals
Creatively connecting the work of the Community Relations department to Casework and Structural Transformation initiatives and leadership;
Developing organizational systems to track church partnerships and ongoing projects;
Clearly and concisely reporting on church and community engagement activities; and
Communicating regularly with Headquarters Church Mobilization staff to coordinate efforts and consult concerning best practices.
This position requires periodic travel throughout India, especially the Bangalore area.
Required Skills and Experience
5-7 years’ experience as a leader or educator in Christian churches, networks, or organizations preferred;
Minimum two years direct management experience;
Theological Master’s degree preferred;
Bachelor’s degree in theology or a related field;
Fluency in spoken and written English required. Fluency in spoken and written Tamil preferred;
Efficient computer skills and knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and Windows 7.
