The Director of Development's (DOD) primary focus will be securing major gifts of $25,000 and above for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. This position will be responsible for maintaining an active portfolio of donors and prospective donors. The DOD has a dual reporting line to the Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Vice President for University Advancement.

This position will be responsible for the ongoing identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individuals, to maximize philanthropic support for a variety of programs for Athletics. In addition, the DOD will assist and support annual giving and special event initiatives for athletics in Phoenix and surrounding areas. The DOD will participate and attend monthly Athletics' development meetings and University Advancement meetings, as well as other staff meetings as appropriate. NAU is in the quiet phase of a comprehensive capital campaign.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Plans and directs comprehensive strategies for identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gifts ($25,000+) prospects for the support of NAU Athletics. The primary responsibility is major gift fundraising. * Coordinates Athletics fundraising with the Office of University Advancement, which is responsible for the University's comprehensive fundraising program. * Manage donor relations portfolio of 175 major gift prospects.

  • Assist in game day responsibilities. * Assist with overall athletic development goals, including special events and annual fund drive. * Other duties as assigned.
