The American Heart Association, one of the nation's leading nonprofit organizations, has an excellent opportunity for a Director of Development for the Richmond area implementing large corporate based events that bring together people from across the area to raise funds.

The Director will support and partner with committee members on all major fundraising initiatives for the Richmond Heart Ball.

Responsible for corporate and individual giving.

Actively work with the senior staff to develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy to include corporate, individual, and all types of contributions.

Have primary responsibility for development and execution of all proposals; effectively employ long-term relationship-building strategies in corporate funder relationships.

Oversee and research funding sources and trends , with foresight, to help position the Richmond Heart Ball ahead of major funding changes or trends.

Monitor all donor information; provide and present statistical analysis to senior leaders on a regular basis; regularly project expected changes in donor activity.

Implement and manage the development of plans and programming to win and build new donor relationships.

Ensure the success of the Richmond Heart Ball as well as multiple fundraising events throughout the year.

Oversee and manage the donor database procedure and information.

4+ years of professional experience in a nonprofit organization or equivalent experience in a relatable sales role; demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources).

Proven track record and experience of having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time.

Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships.

Ability to work both independently without close oversight ; a team player who will productively engage with others within and outside the organization.

Strong organizational and time management skills with outstanding attention to detail .

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines; must be goal driven
