Director of Development – Corporate/Foundation Relations
Responsibilities : Eastern Illinois University seeks a high-energy professional for the position of Director of Development – Corporate/Foundation Relations. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Advancement, the selected will be responsible for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship with primary emphasis on grant writing in search of securing foundation and corporate gifts with potential in the hundred thousand and greater dollar range.
The Director of Development – Corporate/Foundation Relations will be responsible for the leadership and management of corporation and foundation relations within an assigned portfolio. The Director will be responsible for leadership and management of specific initiatives in a foundation and corporate prospect portfolio. The Director of Development – Corporate/Foundation Relations is responsible for drafting grant proposals for submission to foundations and corporations. Additional responsibilities may include fundraising for university-wide priorities as determined by the President of the University or the Vice President of University Advancement.
QUALIFICATIONS : Bachelor’s Degree and demonstrated knowledge and understanding of philanthropy.
Competitive applicants will possess significant progressively responsible experience in philanthropy grant writing, corporate/foundation relations and exhibit strong leadership characteristics including:
- Record of success in grant writing in search of corporate/foundation fund-raising initiatives;
- Commitment to cultural diversity and educational equity;
- Excellent communication and problem solving skills;
- Ability to work with potential donors and alumni, as well as students, faculty, staff, administrators, community members, and others throughout the state and nation in friend-raising and fund-raising activities;
- Knowledge of current issues and trends in the philanthropic arena.
STARTING DATE : July 1, 2013
SALARY RANGE : Competitive and commensurate with qualifications
CONTRACT YEAR : Twelve months
