The Director of Finance position directs, develops, plans and evaluates Gordon Food Service’s (GFS) division financial plans and policies in budget, financial analysis and corporate planning. This role provides financial insight and decision support for the leadership team on all financial and operational matters.
This position will oversee the Finance/IS department for the Florida division which consists of two facilities - Plant City, FL and Opalocka, FL. However, t he position will be based out of the Opalocka office .
Some of the responsibilities of this position include:
Collaborates with the leadership team to reinforce the GFS culture and values and provides financial leadership vision, strategic direction and council.
Assists in the development of business goals and objectives, monitors key business indicators and evaluates and identifies opportunities for performance improvements
Interacts with customers to conduct business reviews
Communicates financial results and objectives to a wide variety of audiences
Provides oversight and management of annual forecasts and budgets as well as ongoing financial reporting and ensures integrity of all division financial reports.
Acts as a liaison for all centralized accounting functions and ensures compliance with all corporate and division policies and procedures.
Oversees credit department to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
Oversees annual budgeting, capital spending and long-range planning for the division.
Interviews, hires, trains and retains staff. Conducts performance monitoring of staff, initiating follow through with disciplinary action and termination in consultation with Human Resources when appropriate for the department. Mentors, motivates, and develops staff and acts as a role model and resource to them.
Develops capital and operational budget for the department. Routinely monitors, manages, and controls budget, analyzes variances and takes appropriate action and develops plans for productivity improvements.
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field. MBA preferred.
At least eight (8) years previous controller experience in a corporate or public accounting environment with five years previous leadership experience or an equivalent combination of education training, and experience.
Some travel required (10%-20%)
