As the Director of Health Information this position is responsible for planning, organizing and directing all of the activities of Health Information Services (HIS) for Taunton State Hospital. The Director is responsible for hiring, supervising staff in the HIS Department as well as providing Department specific training. The Manager reviews all policies and procedures, pertaining to the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), privacy and confidentiality, MHIS and other areas that are contingent to the EMR systems and provides training to relevant staff on any changes to documentation to the EMR. The Manager assures that the hospital meets all standards and regulations for the HIS as required by DMH, CMS and the Joint Commission.

The Manager supervises and coordinates activities of employees engaged in collection, diagnosis coding, filing, routing of medical records, transcription of medical and other reports, and provides oversight of all actions pertaining to the release of medical record information as well as support of the billing process.

The Manager oversees the completion of chart audits and addresses a process and practice for correcting identified deficiencies.

Applicants must have at least (A) four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in the particular specialty (i.e. scientific, professional, or technical) and (B) of which at least two years must have been in a supervisory or managerial capacity, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.

I. A Master's degree with a major directly related to the particular specialty may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.*

II. A Doctorate with a major directly related to the particular specialty may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience.*

*Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.

Note: Educational substitutions will only be permitted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience. No substitutions will be permitted for the required (B) experience. The above entrance requirements are to be used only for positions for which educational and/or experience requirements have not been established by the General Laws. Entrance requirements established for particular positions by law must be used.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must possess current licensure and/or registration requirements established for the performance of the duties of the position.
Preferred Qualifications: -Experience working in an inpatient or outpatient psychiatric setting.
-Experience in working with an electronic medical record and knowledge of coding practices.
Comments: Work Schedule: 8:30am to 5:00pm with Sunday and Saturday as days off.
