Valley Regional is currently looking for a Director (RN) – ICU Department.

  • Responsible and accountable for those providing care to patients and families within the ICU Department.
  • Delegates responsibility, authority and accountability to the Nursing Manager ensuring the nursing process - assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care is in compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Insures the ICU is integrated within the Organizations primary function.
  • Responsible for coordinating and integrating interdepartmental and intradepartmental services.
  • Insures and assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services.
  • Determines the appropriate number of and insures the competence of administrative staff members is assessed, maintained, demonstrated, and improved on an ongoing basis.
  • Delegates this responsibility to the Nursing Manager and assistant Head Nurses to recommend appropriate number of clinical staff and ensure competency is assessed, maintained, demonstrated and improved on an on-going basis.
  • Oversees the Performance Improvement activities of the department.
Recommends space and other resources needed within the department.
  • Participates in selecting sources for needed services not provided by the department or the organization.
  • Supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the department and hospital.
  • Five years experience as a Staff Registered Nurse in an ICU setting required.
  • Three years management or Charge Nurse Experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in utilization management preferred
  • B.S. Nursing required. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Educational requirements appropriate for meeting population-specific needs of all patients on the unit.
  • Current Texas Licensure with State Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • ACLS required.
