Job Description

TheDirector of Labor- Tiger Teamwill be assigned to start-ups and underperforming divisions and/or divisions that are not meeting expectations of the client or the Company in danger of breaching the client contract due to labor problems. Work involves development of start-up procedures and checklists for start-up team, immediate assessment of personnel and staffing issues and shortfalls, an assessment of the performance of labor work, and shortfalls and needs. The Director of Labor must quickly assess the division’s labor issues and immediately implement a mitigation plan and see it to satisfactory results. This position will report to the VP of Tiger Team.
The ideal candidate for this position will have 7-10 years of experience working directly with labor unions and management at all levels, and must have the following skills:

  • Has the ability to work collaboratively with the union counterparts.
  • Must have experience in managing campaigns and organizing drives.
  • Must have strong street smarts and know how to persuade.
  • Collective bargaining agreement interpretation skills.
  • Strong autonomous contract negotiation experience. Must have Chief Negotiator experience.
  • Participates in the implementation of the Company’s Labor strategy.
  • Resolution of grievance and arbitration. High level of experience in the grievance process, including arbitration.
Some of the tasks in regards to the Director of Labor Relations position are:

  • Must have extensive lead chair experience in collective bargaining negotiations.
  • Solid working knowledge of labor law and basic workings of the NLRB.
  • Firm understanding of conducting employee investigations.
  • 7-10 years of Labor relations experience.
  • Multi-unit, Multi state.
  • Must possess excellent writing skills with the ability to draft settlement agreements and Memorandums of Understanding.
  • Proven problem solver, with a keen strategic sense of the Company’s strategic goals.
  • Reports directly to the Vice President of Labor Relations.
50% Pro-active management on location support.
40% Negotiations / CBA interpretation.
10% other projects as required.

Job Requirements

  • 7-10 years of progressively responsible Labor Relations experience.
  • This position requires an individual who has demonstrated an ability to quickly assess problems, implement solutions, and drive processes/projects to completion.
  • Multi-unit.
  • Multi state.
  • Territory includes: WA, OR, AZ, CO, UT, Southern CA. Ideal candidate should be based in this general territory, most preferably Central California.
  • Reports directly to the Vice President of Labor Relations.
  • Must be able to travel 90% of the time, work weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
