Job Description

Production Resource Group has several manufacturing operations. These include the manufacture of scenic and automation technology, as well as intelligent lighting instruments and consoles including integrated software for all entertainment/event markets.

The director oversees, manages and coordinates all activities associated with manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, maintenance and materials management of our technology. This position is responsible for efficient and economical manufacturing of company products in conformance with established goals and objectives. This position is directly accountable to lead the manufacturing organization to a level of performance identifiable with World Class organizations, utilizing lean production and continual improvement techniques. This position is responsible for formulation and adherence to annual budgets for above departments. Reporting directly to the CEO this position will have responsibility for all aspects of our manufacturing from concept through the entire Product Life Cycle. He or she will work with leaders from teams across the company, from Product Management and Engineering to Product Marketing and Sales to execute on the product roadmap. Finally, as the head of Manufacturing, the appointee is expected to hire and develop personnel to help ensure the efficient operation of all aspects of manufacturing.

Essential Functions
Manage all manufacturing employees directly and through subordinate managers and hands-on operation of the companys multi-location manufacturing function.

Maximizes manufacturing throughput.

Participate in formulating and administering company policies and developing long range goals and objectives. This includes the direction, focus, and visualization of activities in responsible departments to further the overall progressive goals and objectives and monitor their progress.

Direct the company's manufacturing activities to ensure maximum effectiveness is obtained for the production of quality products within specified time and budgetary guidelines.

Accountable to ensure products meet or exceed customer quality standards and required delivery schedules are met.

Ensure that, as the company grows, manufacturing capabilities meet or exceed all industry and customer requirements for cost, quality and responsiveness.

Work closely with the CEO, subsidiary Presidents and the Senior Management team and others on manufacturing plans, goals, and future product innovations.

Play an active role in senior-level negotiations with client companies and manufacturing partners.

Develop and manage budgeting and budget execution with a focus on product costs and margins.

Direct all production control, production process development, quality systems, purchasing, and shipping/receiving activities.

Partner with sales team to meet with customers to discuss and set scheduling timelines for product delivery.


A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible management level experience in manufacturing management involving multiple locations, manufacturing engineering, fabrication management and/or operations.

BS in Engineering (EE, ME, Industrial Engineering) preferred plus MBA preferred.

Other requirements and characteristics:
Demonstrated experience in materials management, from planning through purchasing, and negotiation and administration of multi-million dollar procurement agreements.

Experience with Lean concepts and techniques.

Demonstrated experience with custom manufacturing environments, electronic and computerized component design and fabrication, machine shop environments, carpentry, welding and steel fabrication.

Established relationships with the full range of worldwide sub-contract manufacturers and familiarity with their capabilities, pricing strategies, and negotiation tactics.
