Job SummaryThe Director of Public Relations will aggressively promote the Parallon Brand and convey the key aspects of the company that differentiate it from its competition. He/she will also pitch and place story ideas (and Parallon executives) with influential media outlets across the country to position Parallon as THE leader in its field. This will involve identifying and training Parallon executives to participate in media interviews, to serve as expert sources for news stories and to serve as speakers and panelists at key trade shows throughout the year.The Director of Public Relations is responsible for establishing a close working relationship with the national media (both traditional/trade and "new") in order to generate regular, positive editorial coverage for Parallon Business Solutions and its five business units.The Director will work closely with leaders within each business unit to identify the traditional media and social media targets (including bloggers and social media pundits) that are most likely to influence the decisions of the leaders within our target audience(s). The Director will fervently pursue coverage of Parallon within those outlets.Parallon’s brand is less than a year old.

The Director will build Brand awareness and Brand understanding to make sure the organization’s "share of voice" is greater than its competitors. Supervisor - VP of Marketing and CommunicationsSupervises - N/AKey Responsibilities Create (in conjunction with the VP of Marketing & Communications and the EVP of Sales & Marketing) a strategic communications plan that will bring Parallon to the forefront of awareness of healthcare shared service providers. Manage and address (from a communications standpoint) all issues that might confront the businesses and prevent Parallon from achieving its business objectives. Provide strategic communications/public relations advice to the senior management team.

Create PR programs and tactics that will positively elevate the Parallon Brand in the eyes of our target audiences. This effort will include overseeing a regular, and robust stream of Parallon "news" to the healthcare industry. Identify and communicate important news from within Parallon’s five business units to our key audiences while developing a total Parallon corporate presence in the media as well. Work closely with available resources to make sure that all Parallon news is effectively communicated within Parallon.

Serve as a key Parallon spokesperson with the media. Measure the effectiveness of all PR programs to prove ROI to the senior leadership team.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities HIGH-IMPACT COMMUNICATION - Clearly and succinctly conveying information and ideas to individuals and groups in a variety of situations; communicating in a focused and compelling way that drives others’ thoughts and actions SELLING THE VISION - Vividly communicating a compelling view of the future state in a way that helps others understand and feel how business outcomes will be different when the vision and values become a reality. FORMAL PRESENTATION - Presenting ideas effectively to individuals or groups; delivering presentations suited to the characteristics and needs of the audience. INFLUENCE - Creating and executing influence strategies that persuade key stakeholders to take action that will advance shared interests and business goals. MARSHALING RESOURCES - Mobilizing available internal and external resources to achieve sales and organizational goals; proactively negotiating for and accessing resources outside one’s immediate domain when necessary; preparing internal and external partners to promote objectives. TENACITY - Staying with a position or plan of action until the desired objective is obtained or is no longer reasonably attainable.EDUCATION Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications or related fieldEXPERIENCE 7-10 years of progressively increasing PR and/or communications responsibility within a high-growth organization (preferably in the healthcare industry).

Outstanding (and proven) planning, writing and media relations skills. Experience working within the "C-Suite" of a major corporation. Comfortable working within an organization that has limited resources but that demands outstanding results. A self-starter who can convincingly work within an organization that has limited experience with PR and communications programming.
