Director of Research
The Boys Town National Research Hospital seeks a neuroscientist with a strong research background in behavioral and/or communication disorders in children, a history of external funding and an interest in leading and expanding a dynamic research program supported by a mix of institutional, state and federal funds. The Hospital provides a wide array of pediatric services, with an emphasis on communication disorders and behavioral health, giving Boys Town as a whole a unique combination of capabilities representing a continuum from parent training and in-home services, to residential programs and medical care. The current Hospital research program includes 21 laboratories spanning the range from basic neuroscience to studies of language development. We are expanding the program to include studies of children with neurobehavioral disorders to be conducted in a new imaging center on the Boys Town campus. The new facilities, including a 3T fMRI, will expand the capabilities of the current communication disorders program as well. The Hospital works closely with neighboring institutions, including Creighton University and the University of Nebraska, but functions independently, with its own IRB, IACUC, and other administrative support functions. This has allowed us to develop a unique environment optimized for translational research. Additional information is available at http://www.boystownhospital.org.
Duties. The Director of Research is responsible for overall coordination of the multi-disciplinary research program, supervision of an NIH-fund postdoctoral training program, coordination of core support functions, and the development of new laboratories, but should have 50% time to devote to an independent research program.
