JOB TITLE: Director of Teacher Development

REPORTS TO: Managing Director – Talent Pipeline

JOB GOAL :

To strive for a professional learning environment for all YES Prep teachers of the highest quality and to ensure that YES Prep teachers and instructional leaders have the resources available for their learning that will allow them to develop towards excellence.

ILLUSTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Develop professional learning experiences for New to Blue teachers through academies, resources and coaching that will increase their likelihood of success
  • Develop professional learning experiences and resources for experienced teachers that will increase success in the classroom
  • Develop access points for teachers to become better in their craft through toolkit building and resource access
  • Collaborate with the Director of Instructional Leadership on providing feedback to facilitators when possible on professional learning
  • Collaborate with the Director of Instructional Leadership and Managers of Professional Learning (TE) to ensure alignment between professional learning across schools and placements
  • Develop a comprehensive set of courses for ILs on how to deliver professional learning to adults
  • Serve on the Continuum Strategic Team
  • Create opportunities for teachers at YES Prep to enhance their development at the system level
  • Serve on the leadership of the Talent Pipeline team
  • Serve on the Home Office Instructional Leadership Team
  • Additional duties as assigned

  • Conduct self in a professional manner at all times;
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice, with little to no direction;
  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with others.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:
  • At least 5 years of teaching experience and/or instructional leadership experience
  • Formal professional learning writing and experience
  • Exceptional PowerPoint and word processing skills

Education/Certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution
  • Masters’ Degree preferred

Experience
  • Extensive and successful experience as a facilitator of adult learning
  • High levels of engagement of adult learners based on survey results/other feedback mechanisms
  • Outstanding record of student achievement
  • Strong knowledge of contributing factors that lead to effective teachers
  • Formal experience with supporting teachers in professional learning settings
  • Contributing member of a high performing team
  • Experience providing feedback to peers
  • Experience delivering high quality professional learning

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
  • Frequent prolonged and irregular hours of duty

  • Endure inclement weather conditions to provide for student safety

COMMITMENT AND COMPENSATION :

Length of Work Year:

12 – month position; evening and weekend commitments also will be required
