Director, Training and Enablement

The Director of Training and Enablement will be responsible for establishing a technical training curriculum and certification program for MapR customers, partners and employees. In this role you will build and manage a diverse set of content and courseware, a well-defined learning path, and scaled delivery through a network of internal and external trainers. This is a versatile role that will shape the product learning experience by offering high quality training tools as well as a comprehensive learning path. You will manage a growing team of Educational Services Professionals and World Wide Service Partners. This role will report to the VP of World Wide Services.

The cool stuff you will do:
  • Develop a comprehensive roadmap that ensures customers, partners and employees are proficient in MapR technology and solutions
  • Organize and develop training materials that incorporate instructional design best practices and have well-defined learning objectives
  • Build and manage product training through scalable, innovative training delivery programs including on demand, instructor led training (ILT), self-service training, and virtual/remote training
  • Build and manage a global, world-class network of training partners to reach our domestic and international markets.
  • Implement a multi-discipline certification program that is applicable for customers as well as partners who are being certified in the Services Partner Program; ensure exams are valid, reliable and follow a psychometrically sound development process
  • Create a train-the-trainer program and ensure train-the-trainer sessions are conducted in a standardized, accurate, and appropriate manner to maximize learning and knowledge transfer
  • Assist sales with all training requests and proposals; gather customer learning objectives, match customer requirements to the appropriate training solution and develop quotes
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing and product management to identify opportunities for expansion (new course offerings as well as locations) and continuously improve effectiveness of content
  • Produce and deliver regular reports on the status and financial aspects of MapR’s training business; define and implement metrics for success
  • Use strong project management skills and processes to ensure quality and timely completion of learning development projects; maintain a high level focus on customer satisfaction and update management regularly on activity status
  • Stay current in best practices, tools, and applications across learning, training and certification
The stuff you will need to succeed:
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and document technical training programs for customers, partners and internal employees
  • Demonstrated expertise to create and implement global training across multiple delivery mediums (e.g. self-paced, virtual and instructor-led training)
  • Experience with LMS systems, content authoring (e.g. Captivate, Articulate) and delivery and tracking systems
  • In depth knowledge of training and development principles, best practices and methods, and needs assessment/instructional design
  • Proven ability to facilitate and conduct instructor-led and/or virtual training
  • Proven expertise to organize, manage and lead multiple projects and teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, startup environment
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of technical training and development experience
  • 5+ years of program/project management experience including budgeting and resource management
  • 3+ years of management experience
  • Working knowledge of Linux, IT infrastructure, systems administration and networking a plus
