Reporting to the VP, Controller, the Director of Accounting leads the financial close process, including managing the GL, AR, and AP functions, and is integral to both our internal and external financial reporting. The Director will lead a team of approximately 20, including five direct reports. Desire to build and lead a strong team and implement continuous process improvement are key role characteristics. The Director will be responsible for analyzing technical accounting guidance, creating and maintaining corporate accounting policies, driving an internal customer service approach in working with other functional areas, and ensuring our internal control environment remains effective. In addition to managing the internal team, the Director will be instrumental in working with both our internal and external audit resources. The Director will be expected to have a risk based approach to our financial close process and periodically report to and update the Audit and Corporate Responsibility Committee of the Board of Directors on our internal controls and other accounting and financial reporting deliverables.


Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting or equivalent

Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive accounting experience (can include a combination of public accounting and industry)

Five (5) years of team leadership and management experience

Five (5) years working with large Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems

Healthcare accounting experience including: A/R valuation, capitation and risk sharing arrangements, IBNR, tax-exempt debt compliance, tax and regulatory reporting

Ability to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines while maintaining the highest standards of completeness and accuracy

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills


Master’s Degree

Experience with PeopleSoft and Hyperion

Experience in a nonprofit hospital or health system
