NIB Team: New York State Preferred Source Program
The Executive Office plays a critical role in defining
and driving strategic, operational, and organizational
improvements across the company. As a member of the NIB
Executive Office Team, you are at the forefront in
helping NIB clarify fast-moving strategic priorities,
tackle operational challenges, and enable innovation.
NIB Team Member Role: Director, Business Development,
The Director, Business Development will manage the
business development functions for the New York State
Preferred Source Program for People Who Are Blind. The
Director, Business Development will identify, recommend
the allocation, and oversee the process of successfully
adding new employment opportunities for affiliated
agencies and people who are blind.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify new business opportunities that will be
successfully developed under the New York State
Preferred Source Program, as well as other suitable
- Identify and develop solutions to barriers which
impact the success of business development.
- Ensure identified opportunities meet mission and
- Make appropriate allocation recommendations on
projects identified following NIB board assignment
policies and program requirements.
- Develop and maintain a robust business development
plan and contact database.
- Develop strong relationships with key personnel in
government procurement positions, affiliated
agencies, commercial businesses, material and
service providers in order to successfully identify,
develop, and launch new employment opportunities.
- Work with other NIB business functions to verify
needs and capabilities of affiliated agencies.
- Create, implement, and monitor internal processes to
ensure effective identification of strategic
business opportunities. Incorporate market analysis,
customer requirements, and competitive landscape
- Increase visibility and awareness of the NYSPS
Program for People Who Are Blind with existing and
potential new customers.
- Leverage solution based strategies to satisfy the
customer’s total needs and meet and exceed their
- A Bachelor’s Degree in business or related
discipline from an accredited university or college
or 10 years of relevant experience and training. MBA
- A Minimum ten years’ experience in management and/or
operations. Previous experience in acquiring state
and local government business is desired.
- Management experience of teams, direct reports.
- Requires superior communication skills with a
background in marketing and/or sales management at a
level that incorporates profit and loss (P&L)
ownership of a business or division.
