The Director is a leadership position that manages SW Engineering and development resources and activities within a Development Center. Facilitates the on-time and on-budget completion of all tasks associated with the development of various projects and releases throughout the year in order to maintain the Company's competitive position and technical edge in the marketplace. Works continuously to improve the quality of the software products and deliverables: gets quality software written and product out the door. Facilitates collaboration with Product Management, QA, Customer Support and I.H.S. on the innovative development and best practices of the latest technology for new products as well as enhancing the quality and functionality of existing products. Will ensure engineering resources are aligned with customer needs and contribute to or lead evolution. Responsibilities include, but not limited to the creation of technical specifications, code development/review, configuration/build activities, unit testing, and the regular monitoring and reporting of work progress, problems and trends to deliver software in a timely manner. This position directs the activities and facilitates collaboration with teams of designers, software architects and engineers, customer support, documentation and quality assurance resources, as well as overseeing the work of off-shore development resources. This position will evaluate the continued evolution of the infrastructure of a product set and may also be a participant on advisory groups to provide direction with regards to TriZetto's technology progression and adoption. Must develop a strong understanding of TZ infrastructure, development practices, platforms, and the roles of various groups.

Pimary duties and responsibilities include:
Leading the activities of the software development staff and setting technology direction – 30%

Review and monitor development activities to ensure it is of high-quality, meets its on-time delivery schedule and within budget. – 25%

A mentor to develop a high performance team. Develop guidelines to monitor effectiveness of the group. Supports behaviors and empowers team members to plan and execute work. Develop formal and informal recognition programs for staff members – 15%

Promoting and maintaining a high quality, professional, service-oriented company image among users by ensuring high quality development techniques, and generating new, innovative procedures for improving development activities. – 15%

Managing expectations and sales with the help of customer support of customer base regarding resolution of their product problems and serving as an escalation point on critical items. – 5%

Facilitate collaboration and effective communication with other departments on an on-going basis. – 5%

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and laws. May require interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising employee performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. – 5%

The position will be typically responsible for managing the following positions

Managers and Team Leads - 5

Provides leadership direction and guidance indirectly to groups or team of 25 - 50

Requires relevant Bachelor's degree. Masters degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 8 or more years related work experience and 5 years of management experience. Prefer 10 years work related experience along with 5 years of managing engineering/software teams. Healthcare insurance industry or software development experiences a plus.

Required Skills:
3+ years experience coding and designing with Object Oriented Programming techniques. 2+ years experience working with C#, VB, Visual Studio and coding with .net technologies.

Must be team and goal oriented, ability to handle multiple tasks at once, and meet deadlines. MS SQL Server, SQL (relational database practices), and stored procedures; coding with JavaScript; writing and deploying using Crystal Reports; asp and; and html, xml, and web design. Experience working in LINQ, WCF, and TFS.

Preferred Skills:
Experience in Healthcare or Health Insurance industry helpful. Familiarity with use case driven development, Agile SDLC, and UML modeling.
