ROLE of the POSITION
The Disabilities Specialist provides professional case management services to a diverse population of students with disabilities attending UNLV. In addition to facilitating student specific" accommodations" and general "access" to all students, the Disabilities Specialist provides consultation and support to faculty and staff regarding strategies and methods for meeting the unique needs of this student population.

This position focuses time and resources on professional case management services to students with disabilities, those reporting disabilities, and possible future UNLV student who will use DRC services as the deciding factor in their college/university attendance decision.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required: Bachelor's Degree in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Rehabilitation Sciences, Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education; Minimum of 4 years experience in the provision of services to students with disabilities within a post-secondary setting; Experience in educating/training faculty and staff about the rights and responsibilities of students with disabilities; Experience in effectively collaborating with university units regarding complex student specific accommodations and general access related questions/issues; Experience working with a diverse student population including adult undergraduate and graduate students; Understanding of Assistive Technology (AT) and its uses. The successful candidate must pass a background screening.

Preferred: Masters Degree in in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Rehabilitation Sciences, Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education (with a higher education emphasis) and/or a related field that would enable the selected candidate to interpret clinical evaluation reports for appropriate accommodation eligibility and delivery; Minimum of 2 years experience in the provision of services to students with disabilities within a post-secondary setting; Experience in educating/training faculty and staff about the rights and responsibilities of students with disabilities; Experience in effectively collaborating with university units regarding complex student specific accommodations and general access related questions/issues; Experience working with a diverse student population including adult undergraduate and graduate students; Command of Assistive Technology (AT) and its uses. The successful candidate must pass a background screening.

SALARY RANGE
Salary range is between 40k and 63k annually or commensurate with labor market. Position is contingent upon funding.
