The District Manager is primarily responsible for leading, coaching, motivating, directing and managing activities of field Sales Representatives for a specific district. The District Manager is responsible for achieving sales goals and for implementation of sales strategy to ensure productivity and profitability of the district and organization. The District Manager will also execute plans to recruit, train and oversee the development of the Sales Representatives in their district.

Key Responsibilities :
  • Spends 60-70% of the time in the field assessing needs, reviewing objectives, developing actions plans, sample audits and performance management
  • Establishes district marketing plans to achieve sales goals while effectively allocating all resources to support the plan
  • Possess solid knowledge and understanding of all assigned products, treatment regimes, competitor products, market and industry trends
  • Invests resources to ensure the highest return on investment in a fiscally responsible manner
  • Identifies sales opportunities, sets achievable goals, and guides Sales Representatives in formulating territory plans and specific performance objectives
  • Maintain a fully staffed and productive district by managing vacancies and turnover through active involvement in the recruitment, selection and hiring process
  • Provide on-going coaching through a consistent framework that allows for mutual identification of performance opportunities. Differentiate performance, provide on-going feedback, and proactively address performance issues
  • Provide opportunities for personal and professional growth within the sales organization. This includes communication and participation in programs which foster an environment that rewards accomplishments and encourages the advancement and retention of productive employees.

  • Collaborates with, builds and maintains productive partnerships internally across territories, districts and regions; externally with key alliance partners as well as with influencers and stakeholders that exhibit influence on Meda product utilization
  • Plan and facilitate district meetings and participates in training, POAs, and national meetings as required
  • Meets expectations and deadlines for all projects and administrative tasks
  • Represents Meda in a personable, ethical, knowledgeable and credible manner
Education/Desired Skills/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required
  • Minimum of 2 years as a District Manager within the pharmaceutical industry; experience in the Allergy and/or CNS market highly preferred or a minimum of 1 year as a Sales Training Representative with Meda
  • Must possess a documented record of proven sales success; consistent sales performance in the top third of the organization
  • Must possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong knowledge of Managed Care and the local Medical Group Practices highly preferred
Other Considerations:
  • Must be based in the Greater Los Angeles area
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable record
  • 20-25% overnight travel
