Duties and Responsibilities

1.Lead and manage the effective operation of the HCC Division Finance/Accounting systems and activities. Accountable for the accurate and timely delivery of financial management reports to include, but not be limited to, internal and external weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements and Division performance reports compared to budget and forecast. Maintains a detailed knowledge of the Division Balance Sheet. As required, takes corrective action to “manage” the balance sheet.

2.Coach, lead and counsel BU Controllers and other staff to achieve business objectives and to support individual employee development. Exercise the customary role of a manager to include but not be limited to work quality, work volume, work assignment, communications, positive reinforcement, performance review, performance management, wage and salary administration, safety, equal employment opportunity and, if needed, discipline.

3.Directly and through others, accountable for the integration of all Division financial/accounting operations to include, but not be limited to, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash administration, cash management and credit/collections.

4.Identify and implement finance/accounting changes to improve productivity and reduce cost. Finance/accounting practices, procedures, systems and the department work culture must include the core values of accuracy, integrity, honesty and regulatory compliance.

5.Directly and through others, prepare reports for use by Division Management which summarize and forecast Division business activity and financial position in the areas of income, expense and earnings based on past, present and expected future operations.

6.Monitor working capital requirements to best utilize Corporation and Division assets. Install and actively maintain financial controls to ensure Division compliance with approved Capital Appropriations Requests and to provide advance notice of possible non-compliance with the CAR or developing issues.

7.Directly and through others, accountable to establish and implement effective Division finance/accounting systems which operate within Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and deliver all required finance/accounting data accurately and on time. Directly and through others, accountable for the integrity of all Division finance/accounting systems. Ensures that all Division finance/accounting data and records are safely retained and “backed up” each business day.

8.Is accountable for the timely and accurate completion and presentation of all Division budget/forecasts.

9.Works with the Company/Corporation auditors to support annual/periodic audit activities and to facilitate the preparation of an audited Statement of Condition.

10.As required, perform a variety of due diligence finance/accounting duties to support a Division acquisition, joint venture or similar activity. As required, perform a variety of finance/accounting duties to support the sale of the Division or a part of the Division.

11.Remain aware of legal and regulatory changes and similar new developments which affect Division finance/accounting operations. Regularly, share information with the Division VP GM and others.

12.Maintain membership and active involvement in appropriate professional organizations for the benefit of the company and the employee. Maintain a self-improvement program through participation in professional associations, attendance at conferences and seminars, completion of course work and readings to continue to develop finance/accounting expertise and to continue to develop leadership and coaching skills.


The incumbent achieves objectives through the following:
Reports to: VP and General Manager
Direct reports: Division Accounting Manager and Division Cost Accounting Manager
Indirect reports: Other Division Finance Staff and BU Finance Staff

Performance in this position is evaluated objectively through the timely and accurate preparation and delivery of weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements, effective management of the Division Balance Sheet, the timely and accurate completion of the Division budget and forecast, the effective/efficient operation of Division finance/accounting systems and activities and the completion of Individual Performance Objectives. Performance in this position is evaluated subjectively by Division and Corporate Management satisfaction with finance/accounting operations and systems, employee productivity, employee development and creativity.

Salary range for the position is $145k-$165k.

Position Requirements

BS Accounting, Finance or Business Administration required. An advanced Business/Finance degree or a Certified Public Accountant designation is desired. 8-10 years of finance/accounting experience required. A career record of success in finance/accounting with continued increased responsibility. Comprehensive experience with an integrated Enterprise Resource Planning system or the equivalent required. The demonstrated ability to work productively with individuals at all levels inside and outside the organization. Demonstrated proficiency with customary PC office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
