This is a full-time management (MPP) position. MPP employees serve at the pleasure of the campus President. MPPs do not serve a probationary period and never receive permanent status.
This position is a "designated position" in the California State University's Conflict of Interest Code. The successful candidate accepting this position is required to file Conflict of Interest forms subject to the regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission.

Department Marketing Statement
The Division of University Advancement is charged with developing relationships with external constituencies that will lead to greater human and financial resources for CSUDH. The areas of University Advancement include Communications/Public Affairs, Government/Community Relations, Alumni Relations, Development and Advancement Services. The Office of Advancement Services serves as the backbone of these efforts to ensure accurate information and progress toward our fundraising and other goals.
The Donor Relations and Stewardship Manager will have a direct reporting line to the Associate Vice President for Development and an indirect reporting line to the Director of Advancement Services.
As a key member of the development team, the Donor Relations Manager will provide management and support for all areas of donor relations and stewardship. Establishes and manages donor recognition, on-going communications and continued cultivation of past and current major donors to enhance their relationship with the University and increase the likelihood of continued contributions. Develops and assesses policies and procedures across the University that are essential for a comprehensive donor relations program.
These functions include, but are not limited to; designing and implementing a systematic and integrated donor relations program that encompasses donor recognition events, endowed funds reporting, stewardship strategies for major gift donors. Responsible for devising and using consistent, accurate, and appropriate information-sharing mechanisms for stewarding prospects and donors. Proactively supports the stewardship responsibilities of the development staff by assisting them in establishing and coordinating individualized stewardship plans for donors.
Works collaboratively with Development staff to engage donors and assist with recognition of donors in the campus events, compose letters, compile appropriate invitation lists, create programs and provide program materials, prepare program scripts and participant remarks (as needed) and create and/or obtain donor awards and recognitions. Recommends and facilitates on- and off-campus publicity of major gifts and donors. Advises on and facilitates the recognition of donors in both print and Web-based publications. Oversees production of the donor honor roll, determines the recipients, and facilitates the mailing. Manages the stewardship of all scholarship donors and proactively engages scholarship students in the acknowledgement and recognition of their scholarship donors. Ensure that all donor funds are spent in accordance to donor gift agreements and ensure donor funds are utilized and reported to donors; Maintain communication with donors and prospects to ensure proper use and distribution of funds; Ensure donors receive appropriate recognition in publications, recognition events and donor honor roll; Support college level advisory boards throughout the institution; Manage logistics relating to donors and honorees for donor related events; Other duties as assigned. This person will be working with confidential donor information and donors and will need to exercise the greatest level of sensitivity.
Serves as the primary campus contact for the most significant donors, helping to resolve problems, questions, and concerns.
Required Knowledge and Ability:
Must possess excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; excellent organizational skills; knowledge of the fund-raising process and the concept of donor relations; strong customer service orientation; demonstrated knowledge of sophisticated database program processing and administrative techniques.
Knowledge and training in fields related to the work of University Advancement are desired.
Successful candidate will be expected to have mastered primary office software packages.
Must be able to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, take initiative, resolve problems, follow through, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities to ensure goals are met in a timely manner; be able to work well across department lines.
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accrediated college or university in a related field.
Experience: Two (2) to five (5) years professional work experience in development or related area.
Preferred Knowledge and Ability:
Experience in higher education preferred. Previous experience in Donor Relations or Stewardship.
