We are currently seeking a Temporary/Intermittent Drafter/CAD Operator ar the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA's) Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF) in New Orleans. MAF is a world-class manufacturing facility providing vital support to NASA's space flight missions. MAF is also a multi-tenant facility. This position will work in a collaborative team environment and be responsible for preparing complete sets of complex drawings or computer models that include multiple views, detail drawings, and assembly drawings. Drawings or models include complex design features that require considerable drafting skill to visualize and portray.
Prepare a variety of finished drawings to communicate engineering ideas, designs and information in support of engineering functions used in constructing or modifying buildings, utilities, or process systems. Finished drawings are to be produced from red-line prints, rough sketches, specifications and verbal instructions. Must be capable of applying drafting techniques with regard to earlier than 2005 to electronically create, store, and retrieve drawings. Must be proficient in CADD regarding software use and both manually and electronically produced documents. Must have knowledge of CADD systems AutoCad 2010 or versions not drafting standards. Other duties will include assisting Engineers and/or other drafting personnel with day to day functions including maintaining configuration control of drawings and assemblies, including sectional profiles and small or intricate details.
Must be capable of producing civil/structural/mechanical/electrical drawings from the conceptual phase through the detailed design phase of a project. Included is the ability to create drawings to depict architectural and structural particular systems; assist Engineers in the field with measurements and field sketches; prepare various drawings of parts features of buildings for new construction projects and alterations. Be able to develop drawings and topographical and relief maps used in construction or civil engineering projects, such as roads, bridges, pipelines, flood-control projects, and water and sewage systems.
Associates Degree from a vocational/technical school in drafting, which included CADD Operations curriculum. Minimum of 5 years experience in industrial drafting/CAD environment or related area. Must have understanding and background of AutoCAD, AutoCAD MEP, 2D/3D solid and vector drafting. Understanding of structural/mechanical/electrical drafting disciplines and familiarity with National CAD Standard is a plus. Ability to follow instructions and willing to work as a team. Working knowledge with MS Word, Excel and database programs. Must possess good interpersonal communication and writing skills.
