Coordinates and oversees development and implementation of public relations events and activities in support of the Citrus Research and Education Center mission at the local, regional, state and national levels to provide a foundation for center programs and educational outreach. Targets of public relations effort are clients, local external community, local, state and regional media, local government agencies and institutions, University partners, employees and programs at CREC . Supervises staff associated with public relations and customer service.

Duties and responsibilities include:

Provides direction for the development and implementation of public relations events and activities in support of the mission of the Citrus Research and Education Center at the local, regional, state, and national levels. Targets of public relations efforts are clients, local external communities, local, state, regional media, local governmental agencies and institutions, and University partners.

Guides and supervises staff associated with internal and external public relations, including customer service, library, and audio/visual information support services. Liaise with other CREC infrastructure groups, including computer support, facilities operations, Extension office, Center Director

’s office, Human Resources, and standing committees of Faculty and Staff. Serves as a contact point at CREC for media coverage, inquiries and development of news releases and other materials. Coordinates and assists in development of media releases, information articles, and popular press materials with cooperation of Center Director, Faculty, Staff, Students and Visiting Scientists. Coordinates internal advertising for special events, seminars, and CREC course offerings. Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience or familiarity with the Florida citrus industry and appreciation of the agricultural sciences.
