Job Purpose: EH&S Leader provides technical support and coordination of EH&S activities. This position is also responsible for all EH&S compliance, programs and responsibilities. This position is a key role in the overall management of EH&S in the Fostoria and Spartanburg locations.
Provide leadership and technical guidance on all phases of a comprehensive Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Quality program for the facilities.
Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental and safety regulations and corporate policies and procedures.
Handle all environmental control matters.
Develops and completes training as required for all personnel in the area of environmental and safety requirements.
Gathers data necessary for permit applications, reporting requirements, waste disposal contracts and similar requirements that arise and prepares applications and reports as required.
Assures compliance with governmental and Corporate guidelines through monitoring and testing of industrial environmental factors and on an ongoing basis provides auditing and effectiveness of existing programs.
Recommends and implements courses of action to remedy any non-compliance with safety and environmental laws and regulations.
Provides leadership to the Management Team on the required measures to reduce costs caused by accidental losses.
Ensures successful integration of EH&S in the overall business operations.
Develops and implements EH&S Departmental budget.
Responsible for the plant fire protection systems, which includes system inspections and testing as required by regulations and Corporate policy.
Radiation Officer and is responsible for permitting, training and inspections regarding radiation equipment.
The manager of EH&S handles all plant security issues including guard supervision, policy resolution, employee badges, record retention, mail distribution and all locks-key control.
Responsible for the plant Medical Department activities, including the supervision of 1 Industrial nurse interpreting Medial Department policies, defining OSHA recordable cases and resolving Industrial Hygiene issues.
Creates and receives purchase orders in EBP/SAP systems.
Tracks and monitors EH&S metrics
ISO 14001/OHSAS 18001/ EH&SMS
UST/Title V management & Workers’ Compensation
Suspend production to eliminate or stop the manufacture of suspect parts.
All other dues as assigned by Plant Manager.
Bachelor’s degree required in related field; Master’s degree preferred
3-5 years of experience working in a unionized facility preferred
At least 2-3 years supervisor/managerial experience preferred
A minimum of 5 years of health, safety and environmental professional experience required.
Ability to lead highly complex engineering organization to meet stretch goals
Experience in ISO & OHSAs 18001, ISO9001 systems
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence others.
Ability to set vision combined with a sense of urgency around maintaining a safe workplace.
