The Clinical Application Manager position provides leadership and operational support in the management and execution of the ambulatory EMR implementations for specialty content in our HCAPS (HCA Physician Services) practices. The position provides support for divisions or facilities as a hands-on consultant with a broad range of responsibilities and capabilities ranging from conducting and evaluating readiness assessments, leading implementation planning, developing and building of clinical content, developing and delivering training materials, and managing project activities. The position requires interaction with all organizational levels with an in-depth understanding and appreciation for clinical information, workflow analysis, and technology's capabilities, limitations, and impact on clinical practices.
The individual will be responsible for the successful creation and implementation of a standardized clinical content program for the Ambulatory EMR. This will include the creation and facilitation of a content management process, the facilitation of clinical content development, and the on going support of standard clinical content model. Clinical Content will include templates, order sets, disease management and any clinical content builds utilized for the successful implementationan and use of the application.
The Clinical Application Manager position is responsible for assisting the facilitation of successful completion of all assigned EMR projects and implementations associated to the HCAPS' EMR implementation. The position requires solid clinical knowledge and the ability to facilitate and communicate discussions built around specialty content development within the EMR application. The candidate must be results-oriented with a demonstrated strong commitment and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done.
Works full time to support the EHR program with a focus on the Ambulatory EMR. Coordinateness and implements a broad range of standard content for Outpatient clinicians, ensuring and supporting a consistent focus on physicians and their specialty.
Establishing best practices and guiding principles for content development, use, and maintenance within a common EHR framework.
Able to develop and facilitate the content design process and ongoing maintenance process.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with clinical professionals and other stakeholders across the enterprise by recruiting clinicians' leadership, input, and buy-in for the content design and maintenance process.
Facilitates effective communication among all team members to ensure comprehensive understanding of needs, expectations and requirements.
Evaluation of possible clinical content sources to establish best possible starting point for the development of HCA clinical content including disease management, goals and outcomes.
Able to effectively guide clinical resources through the design of standard content.
Able to serve as a clinical content subject matter expert and represent multiple specialties
Collaborate with IT&S, HCAPS, EHR and other stakeholders to help define the use and integration of HCA's standard content into clinical applications, including documentation of master file build, change management, and training materials.
Able to identify risks and opportunities regarding the design, implementation, and future use of standard content across the enterprise.
Content will initially focus on multispecialty clinician documentation via templates as well as standard inpatient and outpatient order set design, but will also include areas such as patient education, clinical references, standard nomenclatures, and decision support design.
Assist with defining reports for disease management and clinical outcomes.
Assist, and support EMR team leads and members in the implementation of the specialty content, including onsite support and providing documentation for preparation, status and issues to various parts of the organization including Senior Management, CSG, HCAPS, OSG, Division and Facility executives as requested.
Becomes an application expert for the clinical components of the EMR
Provides recommendations for the effectiveness of training strategies and materials and recommends changes.
Participates in the definition of project success criteria and defines metrics to be collected, analyzed and reported.
Participates in the development of readiness assessment tools, from a clinical perspective.
Conducts readiness assessments, analyzes results and writes recommendations.
Facilitates and supports evaluation of the effectiveness of clinical content at the practice level (Physician Brainstorming Group, as an example) and recommends changes necessary to support and refine clinical content.
Work on other activities, as necessary, to support the EHR Program Office.
Bachelor's Degree is required
Master's Degree preferred
At least 5 years clinical experience preferably in outpatient care.
RN, or other clinical degree preferred with experience in multi specialty areas
3 or more years clinical experience with supervisory and managerial responsibilities preferred
Experience in training providers and their staff
Experienced in the project management and implementation of Ambulatory EMR System(s) Must demonstrate working knowledge of Ambulatory EMR systems.
Travel up to 40%
