Under the general supervision of the Director of Emergency and Trauma Services, the
EMT identifies and implements interventions that have less predictable outcomes. The EMT functions as a member of the emergency care team.
The EMT is responsible for assisting with routine patient care assignments, working in controlled and/or uncontrolled patient care situations, assisting with/in established patient care procedures, and assisting in therapeutic, rehabilitative, and preventive activities. Employee will be responsible for knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria for the neonate, infant child, adolescent, adult and geriatric population. The EMT is responsible for treatments as prescribed by the physician.
Persons in this category are responsible for consideration of developmental issues of patients in each of the following identified age categories:
__x__ Infancy (birth to 1 yr) __x__Adolescent (12yrs to 18 yrs)
__x__Toddlers (1yr to 3 yrs) __x__Young Adult (18 yrs to 44 yrs) __x__Preschool ( 3 yrs to 5 yrs) __x__Middle Age (45 yrs to 65 yrs)
__x__School Child (5 yrs to 12 yrs) __x__Older Adult (65 yrs and over)
This position may from time to time require that patients be cared for outside the normal age group. In this event the person should consult available resources to provide appropriate care.
· Completion of EMT training
· Current Licensure: Texas Department of State Health Services Certificate: EMT
· Two or more years recent clinical experience in area of expertise, preferred.
· Current Texas license/certification, if required by area of expertise.
· Current CPR course completion.
· Current ACLS preferred
