Assists with the repair and maintenance of machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.
Essential Functions :
Perfomes routine lubrication of beerings and other mechanical systems
Assists with dismantling devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
Assists with repairs and replacment of defective parts.
Lubricates and cleans parts, equipment, and machinery.
Assists with the testing and adjustment of equipment to meet performance specifications.
Assists with repairs of electrical equipment.
Maintains a flexible schedule to accommodate variable shifts ranging from 4 - 18 hours depending on maintenance workload.
Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent. Basic mechanical knowledge in food industry preferred.
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Basic mechanical apptitude
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to operate a variety of hand tools to include the following: power tools including but not limited to: pipe or tube cutters, power drills, power saws, pullers, wrenches, screw drivers, sockets, ratchets, grinders, pry bars, hammers, punches, measuring devices, and chisels.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; extreme cold and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must also be able to work 13 hour shifts regularly with occasional extended shifts not to exceed 18 hours.
Mental Activities While performing duties of this job the employee will frequently engage in teamwork. The employee will occasionally be required to use interpersonal and customer service skills. The employee will occasionally need to speak and read English.
