Responsible to ValleyCare Health System for supporting the corporate mission, vision and values. Responsible to Nursing Department for supporting the nursing philosophy and providing high quality, cost-effective comprehensive patient care. Responsible to the customer for courteous, accurate, timely service. Provides a supporting role to the Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAJOR DUTIES
Performs all skills on the ER Medic checklist. Performs as an orthopedic resource/ equipment liaison for the Emergency department. Under direction of Registered Nurse, provides high-quality, cost-effective patient care interdependently. Collects, transports, stores and/ or disposes of refuse related materials safely. Transports equipment, specimens, and supplies as needed. Transports patients according to transport criteria. Stock supplies in the patient care area. Provides Respiratory support as directed by the Registered Nurse. Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduate from an accredited Paramedic training program required. Previous experience on this or related jobs in a hospital or healthcare facility preferred.
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION AND/OR CERTIFICATION
Current certification by the State of Ohio as a paramedic required. Certification in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support by the American Heart Association required. BTLS or PHTLS preferred.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Broad knowledge in professional area. Skill and abilities related to phlebotomy and performing ECG’s required. Knowledge of regulatory, legislative and JCAHO standards related to healthcare.
