The Tech Support Engineer performs a variety of engineering work, which may include designing, developing, testing, analyzing, troubleshooting and commissioning of Cymer EUV products located at Cymer headquarters, Direct Customer Site Operations and End-Users globally. Participation as a comprehensive technical engineering support resource for product escalations and top technical issues requiring rapid containment and resolution is essential. Position demands a professional approach to solving complex technical issues using extensive data, process methods and group collaboration.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Serves as a seasoned professional who applies, analyzes and interprets a variety of standard theories, concepts, methods, and techniques to a wide range of issues within a single technical area using imaginative as well as practical solutions.
Interfaces with technical support engineers in the department and utilizes established escalation and Technical Support Management processes to provide timely responses to situations where field engineers and local technical support based in Cymer identified Regions have failed to isolate or fix problems in malfunctioning equipment.
Solve complex technical problems by remote analyzing data and creating pro-active action plans.
When not able to solve problem remote, travel onsite to solve problem at customer site.
Collects data and provides data package to Advanced Technical Support and/or Program engineering so that design, reliability, maintenance problems or bugs can be submitted to design engineering/software engineering. Assists in problem communication and solution implementation to direct customer operations/regional support personnel.
Work various engineering groups to define and scope troubleshooting procedures, Technical Bulletins, Field Service Alerts and Field Changes Orders.
Provide input, creation and management of processes improvements within department to enhance productivity.
Other duties as required.
Applies thorough knowledge of design methodologies. Basic knowledge in utilizing design engineering tools including the capability of statistically analyzing data and reporting it in graphical formats (trend charts, CpK, Control Charts, Gauge R&R Studies).
Must have significantly contributed to the successful completion of one or more projects.
Should have a combination of and/or significant strengths in electronics, software, mechanical engineering and optics.
System performance related data analysis, system troubleshooting and applied technical problem solving skills are essential.
Must be available to attend a six week training session at our European facility upon hire
Must be available to travel up to 40% to international customer sites during first year of employment
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Requires a Bachelor's Degree and five (3) to seven (6) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education; may have advanced degree.
Associates with military experience in aviation or submarine acceptable
Experience in optical imaging systems support in a clean room environment or equivalent experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting and/or customer service on electronic systems desired but not required.
Applied technical support/field service experience in semiconductor photolithography / semiconductor fab environment is highly desired
LANGUAGE & COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and technical documents. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedures and service/support correspondence & documentation. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers.
Foreign language experience in Japanese, Korean, Chinese, German, French or Dutch is a plus, but not required.
MATHEMATICAL / COMPUTER SKILLS
Ability to perform engineering level calculations, mathematical, statistical and technical data analysis.
Extensive understanding of MS excel data manipulation (spreadsheets, charts, pivot tables)
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Responsibilities may include periodic travel to regional and overseas sites for product technical support and special support projects up to 40%.
Work includes on-site technical support which may involve heavy lifting of equipment & modules
Time requirements include on-call 24x7 support for field and integrator operations
Position will require both office/desk-related activities as well as hands-on technical work in a clean-room production environment and/or laboratory setting. Heavy lifting of modules/equipment may be occasionally required.
