SUMMARY

The Integration Engineer is the technical owner of the EUV System Integration functional area, responsible for developing and validating the system integration sequence and procedures and the optimization procedures, as well as for writing and maintaining system level trouble shooting guides. The integration engineer is expected to be a super system user and to support internal technology development and validation by providing system level technical supports to engineering, research and development, and manufacturing in the testing of optical, mechanical and electrical modules, and control systems, and to support field activities including the integration, optimization, testing, and trouble shooting of complex systems at customer sites. The integration engineer executes hands on system and subsystem services and optimization at the factory and also at customer sites.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop system integration sequence and procedures for the factory and customer sites.

Assist in development of descriptive instructions for system service activities including complex upgrades.

Gather information from drawings, specifications, and design engineers necessary to develop procedure documents.

Define validation test requirements based upon design documents for system and sub-systems.

Prepare system and sub-system functional test procedures and create traceability from system functional requirements.

Create trouble shooting guides, and apply to factory and field escalations.

Define and design trouble shooting and data analysis tools.

Utilize test data to assess performance capabilities and assist in the documentation of procedures and the validation of system, operations and service.

Provide feedback to the design engineers on performance, serviceability, and reliability improvements.

Produce clear, concise documentation in defined Cymer formats.

Use sophisticated computer programs and diagnostic equipment to test and characterize source performance.

Work on system upgrades in the factor and at customer sites.

Collect and analyzes data, summarize results, and prepare presentation of results for review.

Qualify product and upgrade modules for shipment.

Perform installation, repair, retrofits, upgrades and preventive maintenance on Cymer EUV equipment installed at customer sites.

Analyze, diagnose, and troubleshoot Cymer EUV product problems via telephone or at customer site.

May provide service education to customer’s service and operations staff.

Travel as required for the purposes of performing system integration, upgrading, trouble shooting and other service activities at customer sites.

Complete service, expense reports, and other administrative responsibilities in accordance with Cymer’s procedures and with supervisor’s approval.

Use company technical documentation and provide feedback for improvement and assist in creating technical service documentation.

Interact with cross-functional groups (engineers and scientists, worldwide customer support personnel, manufacturing personnel, upper management, marketing, external customers). Crosses functional boundaries and builds constructive and effective relationships throughout the whole organization.

Interact with customers occasionally to provide information about system maintenance and operation optimization.

Provide technical training to engineers in the factory and at customer sites.

Responsible for lab safe operation.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

BS in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Physics, Applied Physics, or Mechanical Engineering. Minimum 2 years of experience required. An MS degree can replace the 2 years of experience.

Experiences with non-linear control system design and implementation is preferred.

Knowledge and experiences in optics, laser-induced plasma, optical metrology, and/or controls of such devices preferred.

Experiences with vacuum system a plus.

Experiences in semiconductor equipment development a strong plus.

QUALIFICATIONS

Understanding of the concept of large complex system integration and practices.

Understanding of the concept of optics.

Understanding of the concept of system controls.

Excellent analytical skills and trouble shooting skills.

Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, optical, and control sub systems.

Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications and drawings.

Ability to setup and use the test and analytical equipment commonly used for the optics, laser and plasma research.

Ability to translate the knowledge and hand-on experiences into technical instructions and procedures.

Ability to translate the design and test requirements into comprehensive test plan documents and procedures.

Ability to reduce large amounts of data, create a concise summary, and make a high quality presentation.

Ability to develop or use analytical tools and perform time-domain and frequency-domain analyses.

Ability to define and execute tasks based on project descriptions with minimum or no supervision.

Plan activities and execute to schedules established by program

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent inter-personal skills, with an understanding of customer relationship building in highly multi-cultural environment.

The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Will require travel dependent on business needs.

Travel to overseas and domestic customer sites for > 30 % of time may be required.

May be required to climb or balance.

Must be able to use breathing apparatus.

Work schedule may vary considerably to include evenings and weekends as well as long hours based on business needs.

May be assigned a compressed or alternate work schedule to meet business and customer needs.

May be assigned an “on call” type work schedule and may be required to respond to customers with little or no advance notice.
