TITLE: Early Learning and Family Program Coordinator/Service Provider/ECE Coordinator
1. Valid Alaska Type ‘A’ Teaching Certificate required, minimum level 10 SEED directory.
2. Bachelors' Degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Speech and Language, Physical Therapy, or Occupational Therapy. Masters preferred.
3. Minimum of two years experience with birth to 5 populations.
4. Knowledge of unique and special needs of communities, parent/child relationships, and creative learning programs for the child with disabilities.
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education
JOB GOAL: To provide direct service and leadership in the ongoing development and improvement of the Infant Learning Program and Early Childhood Special Needs Program in the District.
Provide early learning services within the State of Alaska Infant Learning Program framework for infants 0-3, and NWABSD ECE framework as it pertains to children 3-5 with disabilities. Works with ELF staff, contracted therapists, and special education staff under the Director of Special Education to respond to referrals, identify and provide services for families with children 0-3 with developmental delays and/or disabilities in Kotzebue and surrounding eleven villages in home, clinic, and school settings. Knowledge and application of childfind, playgroups, screening, assessment tools, and IFSP/IEP and report writing appropriate for families and children 0-3 and 3-5; working in a transdisciplinary (with contractors), parent-focused early intervention programs maintaining/completing up-to-date appropriate/required paperwork and files including case notes, home visits notes, Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) COS; work with ILP state database system, comply with ILP state/federal standards and regulations, provide early intervention services using evidenced-based practice; ensuring timely and appropriate transitions for enrolled children; responsible for quarterly fiscal, data and narrative reports. Coordinator meetings and assigned duties, teleconferences, committee work; assist in preparation of ELF grant and budget. Coordinate with OCS, WIC, PHN, Maniilaq Specialty Clinic for referral and services with families in the region. Willingness to travel to all villages, state ILP conferences and trainings; work with site special education staff to ensure appropriate services to 3-5 year olds including evaluations and goal writing. Write ESERS, IEPs, lead and attend educational meetings, assist in implementation of appropriate methods, environments, and curriculum for services; and other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
LENGTH OF POSITION: Fulltime, 7.5 hrs/day - 220 days/year
SALARY: Salary and work year to be established by the NWABSD Board of Education.
