Performs echocardiograms and cardiac dopplers as ordered by the physician; educates patients and families concerning diagnostic testing that identifies abnormalities of the heart muscle; interacts with members of the health care team to provide quality care for the patient.
Minimum 1-2 years on the job clinical experience or new graduate of an AMA approved school of diagnostic medical sonography. Graduate of AMA approved school of diagnostic medical sonography with specialty in echocardiography or practical experience gained in a diagnostic cardiology setting/echo lab combined with continuing education with references to support competency. Proficient in echocardiography and doppler modality utilizing diagnostic imaging ultrasound equipment; capable of troubleshooting equipment issues; proven competency to adhere to the medical center´s established scanning protocols; basic computer skills. Registered in echocardiographic diagnostic ultrasound or Registry eligible to sit for the examination. SPECIAL SKILLS: Preferred American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.
Weekend and/or Holiday Rotation may be required.
