Summary: Provides diagnostic studies to patients with suspected cardiac disease. The Echocardiographer will be responsible for carrying a clinical workload commensurate with the department''s workload in addition to other assigned duties. The Echocardiographer will assist the Director with preventative maintenance, quality assurance, orientation and training of students and new employees, education, inter- and intra-departmental relationships, and communications with Nursing, patients, and the Physician staff as it relates to Cardiology Services. Must demonstrate above average intelligence, accuracy, ability to cooperate, neat and pleasant appearance, promptness and industry in keeping with the prestige and image of the department and the hospital. The Echocardiographer is responsible for carrying out the daily functions and diagnostic studies performed by the Cardiopulmonary Department as outlined in the department''s policy and procedure manual. Other duties as deemed necessary by the Director of Cardiopulmonary Services.
Education: Graduate of a AMA program in Echocardiography or related healthcare field and training. Current BLS certification within 3 months and maintain thereafter. RDCS preferred.
Experience: Supervisory experience desired. Certifications: Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or RRT eligible. Must be current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP). Current BLS certification within 3 months of hire and maintain thereafter.
Other: Must demonstrate above average intelligence, accuracy, ability to cooperate, neat and pleasant appearance, promptness and industry in keeping with the prestige and image of the department and the hospital.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move at least 50 pounds. Ability to see colors, see at least 1 mm squares. Ability to hear and distinguish heart and lung sounds. Ability to reach overhead. Ability to remain calm, continue to function effectively and develop priorities during highly stressful situations. Ability to communicate effectively using written and verbal media. Ability to move and operate equipment and carry supplies.
Working Environment: Potential exposure to patients who may be physically or verbally abusive. Potential exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials. This position may require the use of personal protective equipment during several patient and equipment related activities. Occasionally exposed to noise and unpleasant odors.
