SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS(*)
1.* Develops yearly education plans for Respiratory Care and the Sleep Disorders Center.
2.* Assures staff is trained and able to work independently; evaluating and addressing training and educational needs.
3.* Assigns preceptors for orientation of new staff members and cross-training to new areas.
4.* Develops staff competency verification forms and provides current documenting vehicle for maintaining individual competency records.
5.* Coordinates inservice program.
6.* Assists with the development, establishment and implementation of policies and procedures, including Therapist Driven Protocols.
7.* Coordinates departmental Process Improvement program.
8.* Assists Technical Director with accreditation preparations for JCAHO and CAP surveys.
9. Performs patient care services when needed to meet scheduled needs.
10. Performs basic operations on the Meditech system.
11. Performs arterial puncture and blood gas analysis and check off of new employees.
12.* Provides computer expertise in word processing and spreadsheet programs for departmental/education/CQI needs.

Required: High School Graduate and Graduate Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Preferred: Bachelors and/or Masters and Graduate Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Demonstrated Educational/Teaching abilities.
Computer skills in word processing/spreadsheet software.
Required: 5 - 7 years general clinical experience.
Preferred: 3 - 5 years critical care experience including NICU or PICU.
Knowledge base in adult learning.
Required: Virginia Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner
Registered Respiratory Therapist
Current CPR Certification
Preferred: Current NRP, PALS, ACLS certifications
