The position is located at the Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF), Barking Sands in Kauai. The position requires U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Clearance (Secret) .
Under minimal direction of a Supervisor or Sr. Technician, this bargaining unit position Electronic Technician B will operate, maintain, calibrate, repair, troubleshoot, modify, test and install radar systems and equipment. Must be familiar with the systems and equipment assigned to the Makaha Ridge/Kokee Radar site.
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
Performs periodic inspections and maintenance tasks in accordance with published procedures and/or OEM guidelines. Documents results of all maintenance actions in systems and equipment records.
Troubleshoots and repair systems/equipment by reading and interpreting electronic schematics and using simple and complex test equipment.
Prepares monthly system reports, preventive maintenance logs, and other logs or reports as they pertain to the day-today operations.
Installs, checks calibrate and perform acceptance tests on new and relocated systems and equipment as directed.
When directed prepares and submits periodic reports.
Set-up, checks-out, operates and monitors systems and equipment in support of Range Operations. Responds to changing operational requirements when directed.
Maintains configuration control on assigned systems.
Performs other duties as required.
W MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School or equivalent
Two (2) Year Technical School or equivalent training, such as electronic school or Military "A" school in electronics or equivalent.
Five (5) years of progressive experience in a related field with a minimum of two (2) years experience operatin and maintaining tracking rada systems i.e. MPS-25, FPS-16,FPQ-10 or Fire Control Radar.
Detailed knowledge of Windows NT and the ability to troubleshoot and repair computer systems using the operating system administrative tools.
Must be thoroughly familiar with test equipment including; O-scopes, power meters, spectrum analyzers, multi-meters, etc.
Knowledge of DOS 7.0 applications, Microsoft Office programs, E-mail, PMRF Range Schedule, etc.
Must be available for occasional travel for Operational support at other Hawaii locations and further job enhancement training.
Fundamental knowledge of basic electronics, computers, troubleshooting and repair.
Thorough knowledge of Precision Tracking Radar Principles and theory.
Possess and demonstrate a good knowledge of electronics theory and be proficient in reading and interpreting complicated schematic diagrams for troubleshooting and repair to the component level.
Must be able touse, apply and understand complex test and measuring equipment.
Must have a soldering certificate from a commercial firm, tecnical school or Navy school.
Must posses the following PC skills:
MICROSOFT OFFICE: Word, Outlook, Excel, and Windows.
